The implementation plan corresponds to objectives and goals of joint research project and is structured on the following 2 workpackages (for each year) including 3 activities with partners UPB (Romania) and TU (China):

WP1: Year 2009 Selection of methods for the preparation and characterization of P-type and N-type doped Bi2Te3 based thin films

  1. Laboratory experiments using various electrochemical techniques for selection the procedures for obtaining Bi2Te3 thin films, doped as p-type and n-type semiconductors. The establishing of optimal operating conditions. Works in UPB and TU partner laboratories, exchange of scientific information.

  2. Characterization of structures and performances of P-type and N-type doped Bi2Te3 based thin films and comparison of obtained results. Works in partner laboratory, exchange of samples for confirmation, regular discussions in a joint simpozium. Elaboration (UPB and TU) of one paper to be published in an international journal and one oral presentation for a conference.

  3. Electrodeposition of P-type and N-type doped Bi2Te3 based thin films required for mini thermoelectric module using current control (d.c. or reversed pulses deposition) and elucidation of the formation mechanism. Works in laboratories, regular discussions. UPB and TU will publish jointly one scientific book, one paper in journals and will elaborate 2 presentations for conferences.

WP2: Year 2010 Deposition of Bi2Te3 based thin films available for the use in thermoelectric  mini-generator; the design of module and simulation of its working; Contributions to interpretations of interactions between thermoelectric layers; Validation the fabrication technology of mini generator

 4. Optimal design of the structure for a mini thermoelectric generator and simulations regarding the module operating. Regular discussions and exchange of information (UPB and TU).

  5. Evaluation and validation the selected fabrication technology for a module of mini thermoelectric generator. Joint simposium by UPB and TU.

  6. Establishing theoretical and experimental contributions regarding interactions between different thermoelectric material layers inside mini generator. Authors from both UPB and TU will present 2 papers at conferences and will publish 2 papers in journals.

1. Performance estimation of mini thermoelectric generator (module). Supplementary, several application recommendations, technological sheets, CD-ROM and specific work and control procedures will be provided. A joint patent will be finished.

Achievements in I-st step of research (2009):

Common discussions about synthesis and characterization of thermoelectric films, during the visit of Chinese delegation (Prof. Wei WANG, Ph.D.Student Yiteng JIN) in Romania, on 19-26 July 2009.
